Trou aux Cerfs Mauritius

Trou aux Cerfs is a dormant volcano with a well-defined cone and crater located in Curepipe, Mauritius. Also known as Murr’s Volcano. It is One among the famous natural tourist attractions in Mauritius. The dormant, volcanic crater is around 605 meters above sea level, with a diameter of 350 meters and a depth of around 100 meters. A beautiful view of the of the Rempart Mountain, Trois Mamelles, and the Port-Louis- Moka mountain range can be admired from the top.
The difference from a typical volcanic features, the Trou aux Cerfs’ crater is bounded by a vast area of growing luxuriantly forest consisting of local plant species and some huge green pine trees. The Trou aux Cerfs has erupted only once and is staying dormant for the last 700 000 years

It encompasses a distillery and an agricultural plantation on an eco-friendly estate. It was designed to provide a holistic tourism experience to guests. Wood, natural stone and water provide a sense of communion with nature, turning the distillery into one of the most beautiful attraction which gives finest varieties of Rum tasting experience during the tour.

 

7 Coloured earth and Waterfall


This world famous attraction is a unique volcanic geological phenomenon resulting in seven colours of earth which evolved through conversion of basaltic lava to clay minerals. This prominent tourist attraction found in the Chamarel plain of the Rivière Noire District in south-western Mauritius. It is a relatively small area of sand dunes comprising sand of seven distinct colours (approximately red, brown, violet, green, blue, purple and yellow). Sunrise is the best time to see the Coloured Earths.
Next to the dunes also lives a small family of land turtles which children mostly enjoy along with children play area. The Seven Coloured Earth can be viewed all around it. There is a walking path bringing you to different viewpoints. You cannot walk over the dunes because it is a protected area.

  • There is also souvenir shop and a coffee corner within the park.
  • There are many places to stop to admire the exquisite view and click pictures.
  • Besides the dunes there is also a beautiful viewpoint over Chamarel waterfall which is 83 meter high that you shouldn’t miss.
